Google Updates Chrome and YouTube with Some Notable Improvements

Google has recently updated two of its most popular iOS apps – Chrome and YouTube – with some great new features.

Easier Chromecasting

First up, YouTube now plays even nice with Google's Chromecast streaming media device. Starting with version 12.03 of the app, users can now control videos from their lockscreen when casting to a Chromecast or any other smart living room devices with a YouTube app.

Along with the lockscreen, the control buttons are now available in the Control Center.

You'll also be able to access controls on any paired Apple Watch.

YouTube is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store from free.

Chrome adds a QR scanner

The updated Chrome app now features a QR code. That's a handy addition as users usually need an add-on app to scan those codes on their iOS device. The scanner is available on any 3D-Touch enabled iPhone by simply selecting the Chrome icon. All users can also access it by searching for "QR" in Spotlight.

Any iPad users can take advantage of the redesigned tab switcher that makes it easier to access sites.

Chrome can be downloaded now on the App Store. It's also designed for both the iPhone/iPod touch and all iPads.

Update (3.1.17): Oculus Rift is getting a massive price drop in the US. Announced at GDC 2017 , the hardware will now be sold in a package deal with the Oculus Touch controllers for $599. Separately, you can now by the Oculus Rift headset for $499, and the Touch controllers for $99. That makes it about $200 than its closest competitor, the HTC Vive, and a pretty good deal for gamers just getting into VR. Panasonic Lumix FZ2500 / FZ2000

Panasonic has long offered a respectable range of superzoom cameras within its Lumix portfolio, but the Lumix FZ1000 was still a notable addition when it arrived three years ago. The reason? While it adhered to the same formula as previous FZ models, by employing a 1.0-inch-type sensor it promised far better image quality than we'd expect from such a camera.
